Today, I am proud to announce the launch of the inaugural issue of the International Collegiate Science Journal (ICSJ). ICSJ is a collaboration between Princeton Innovation and eight other undergraduate science publications from UC Berkeley, University of Cambridge, Duke University, Harvard University, Oxford University, Rice University, Stanford University, and Washington University in St. Louis. Nearly a year and a half ago, Innovation’s previous Editor-in-Chief, Stephen Cognetta, had the bold idea to expand Innovation’s ideals of scientific engagement and communication beyond Princeton’s campus. We were fortunate to find many like-minded individuals leading similar publications at other universities. Together, we successfully raised funds for a collaborative journal through Kickstarter.

ICSJ not only represents the hard work and dedication of all of the founding members and schools, but also an opportunity to share and gain knowledge about best practices for science communication. We hope that ICSJ is just the first step in fostering a community of like-minded individuals across the country. ICSJ’s inaugural issue includes two articles from Innovation’s own writers: an interview with John Nash and an article about the science of exercise.
